Responsibilities
- Oversee all engineering operations and systems aboard the vessel
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on engines, machinery, and electrical systems
- Ensure compliance with international maritime safety and environmental regulations
- Lead and manage engineering crew members effectively
- Monitor fuel consumption and optimize engine performance
- Prepare maintenance reports and technical documentation
- Coordinate with shore-based technical support teams
- Respond to emergency situations and engineering breakdowns promptly
Qualifications
- Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer or equivalent maritime qualification
- Minimum of 5 years experience in marine engineering roles
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical equipment
- Familiarity with SOLAS, MARPOL, and other maritime regulations
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
- Effective leadership and team management skills
- Good communication skills in English
- Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks in various conditions
