Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment on board bulk carrier vessels
- Inspect and test electrical components to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, including short circuits, overloads, and faulty wiring
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations when working with electrical systems
- Collaborate with other crew members to ensure smooth vessel operations
- Keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electrical technology is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in marine or industrial settings
- Valid electrical license or certification from a recognized institution
- Knowledge of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems
- Familiarity with safety regulations and standards applicable to marine electrical work
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, as required by marine environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks and work in various weather conditions
