Responsibilities
- Provide accurate verbal interpretation during meetings, conferences, and daily conversations between Japanese expatriates and local employees.
- Translate written documents such as emails, reports, instructions, and technical manuals from Japanese to English and vice versa.
- Facilitate communication in production areas, ensuring instructions and safety protocols are clearly understood by all parties.
- Assist in cross-cultural training sessions to help Japanese and local staff understand each other’s customs and work styles.
- Maintain confidentiality and neutrality when handling sensitive business information.
- Support HR and administrative tasks such as interpretation during interviews, performance reviews, and company events.
- Prepare bilingual glossaries and reference materials to standardize common terms used in the workplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Studies, Linguistics, Translation/Interpretation, or a related field.
- N1 or N2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) certification is highly preferred.
- At least 2–3 years of professional interpretation/translation experience in a corporate or manufacturing environment.
- Excellent command of both Japanese and English (spoken and written).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly.
- Familiarity with business etiquette and cultural nuances of both Japanese and Filipino work environments.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic office equipment.
