PT. Dollar Information Consultan Indonesia, a leading player in the construction and infrastructure sector, is seeking a highly skilled Mandarin Translator (Project-Based) to join our dynamic team in Cikarang Pusat, Jawa Barat. This is an excellent opportunity for a bilingual professional to support critical communication between Chinese-speaking stakeholders and local teams on major construction projects.
As a project-based translator, you will be responsible for accurate and timely translation of technical documents, contracts, meeting minutes, and correspondence from Mandarin to Indonesian/English, and vice versa. You will also provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation during meetings, site visits, and negotiations. Your ability to grasp industry-specific terminology—especially in construction, engineering, and project management—will be essential to ensure clarity and prevent misunderstandings.
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with native-level fluency in Mandarin and Indonesian/English, strong research skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. Responsibilities
- Translate technical documents, contracts, reports, and correspondence between Mandarin and Indonesian/English with high accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
- Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation during project meetings, site inspections, and negotiations involving Chinese-speaking clients, engineers, and contractors.
- Review and proofread translated materials to ensure consistency with industry terminology and project standards.
- Assist in the localization of project-related content, including safety manuals, specifications, and regulatory documents.
- Maintain glossaries and translation memory databases for future projects.
- Coordinate with project managers and subject matter experts to clarify ambiguous terms and ensure correct interpretation of technical concepts.
- Support cross-cultural communication and help resolve language barriers in day-to-day operations.
- Adhere to strict deadlines and manage multiple translation tasks simultaneously under minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin (both written and spoken) and professional proficiency in Indonesian and English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Chinese Studies, or a related field. A degree in Engineering or Construction combined with language skills is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional translation or interpretation experience, preferably in the construction, infrastructure, or engineering industry.
- Proven ability to translate technical documentation (e.g., structural drawings, contract clauses, safety reports) accurately.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt to diverse cultural contexts.
- Strong research and analytical skills to quickly learn new industry-specific terminology.
- Availability to work on a project basis with flexible hours, including occasional travel to project sites in Cikarang and surrounding areas.
- Certification in translation or interpretation (e.g., HSK, CATTI) is an advantage.
