Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end packaging development lifecycle for new and existing beauty and cosmetic products, from initial concept to mass production.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative and sustainable packaging materials, technologies, and designs to enhance product functionality, appeal, and environmental footprint.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Production teams to ensure packaging designs align with brand vision, marketing strategies, and operational capabilities.
- Generate detailed packaging specifications, technical drawings (CAD), 3D models, and prototypes for rigorous testing and stakeholder approval.
- Manage relationships with external packaging suppliers and manufacturers, overseeing vendor selection, negotiation, and quality control processes to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Conduct comprehensive performance testing on packaging prototypes to verify durability, compatibility with product formulations, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost optimization, waste reduction, and process improvements within the packaging development pipeline.
- Stay abreast of global packaging trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes within the beauty and personal care industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in packaging development, preferably within the beauty, cosmetics, personal care, or FMCG industries.
- Strong understanding of various packaging materials (e.g., plastics, glass, paperboard, metals) and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, blow molding, printing).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for design and technical documentation.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of packaging testing methodologies, quality assurance principles, and supply chain logistics.
- Familiarity with sustainability principles and a strong interest in developing eco-friendly packaging solutions.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
