Job Description

Are you passionate about shaping the future of global energy? Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our prestigious team focusing on Renewable-Dominated Power Systems. In this role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at solving the complex technical challenges associated with integrating high levels of intermittent renewable energy into modern power grids.

As part of our innovative research environment, you will work alongside world-class faculty and industry partners to develop advanced modeling, simulation, and control strategies. You will play a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of engineers while pushing the boundaries of sustainable energy technology. If you thrive on intellectual rigor and are committed to advancing the global energy transition, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct high-impact research on grid stability and security in power systems with high renewable energy penetration.
  • Develop and implement advanced mathematical models and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSS/E, DigSILENT) for power system analysis.
  • Analyze large-scale energy data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities in decentralized energy networks.
  • Draft academic papers, technical reports, and grant proposals to document research findings and secure project funding.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including faculty members, PhD students, and industry partners, to deliver project milestones on time.
  • Support the design and execution of laboratory-scale experiments and pilot demonstrations.
  • Participate in academic conferences and seminars to present research outcomes and stay abreast of emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of power system dynamics, operation, and control, particularly regarding renewable integration.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or PowerFactory.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C++, or Julia for data analysis and optimization tasks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality research papers and technical documentation in English.
  • Previous research experience in a university or R&D setting is highly preferred.
