Fook Loi Group, a dynamic and expanding organization in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, is seeking a motivated Account Officer to join our finance team. As an Account Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month‑end and year‑end reporting. You will collaborate closely with senior accountants and management to ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards and internal controls. Key aspects of the role include:
- Recording and reconciling daily accounting entries in the ERP system.
- Preparing detailed financial reports, including profit & loss and balance sheet statements.
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Ensuring timely processing of accounts payable and receivable.
- Supporting tax filings, statutory submissions, and audit preparations.
- Contributing to process improvements and internal control enhancements.
- Communicating with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
Responsibilities
- Process and record financial transactions accurately and timely.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Assist in month‑end close activities, including journal entries and accruals.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and management accounts.
- Support the preparation of tax returns and compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor and enforce internal controls and policies.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve financial processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of practical accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., MYOB, QuickBooks, or SAP).
- Solid understanding of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and tax regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Prior experience in the automotive or retail sector is a plus.
