In this role, you will work closely with the Chief Electrical Officer and senior engineers to maintain and operate the ship's electrical systems. You will gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and safety protocols essential for modern maritime operations. Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Electrical Officer with the maintenance and repair of shipboard electrical equipment, including switchboards, generators, and propulsion motors.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical systems to identify potential faults and ensure operational efficiency.
- Adhere strictly to the company's safety policies and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
- Participate in emergency drills, fire fighting, and safety training sessions to maintain high safety awareness.
- Document all maintenance activities and logbooks accurately and in compliance with company procedures.
- Learn to troubleshoot electrical faults and assist in the installation and testing of new electrical equipment.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the electrical workshop and equipment storage areas.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Seafarer's ID and a Class 1 Medical Certificate (or equivalent fitness for duty certificate).
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and navigation systems.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a high-pressure maritime environment.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude towards learning.
- Willingness to travel and work on board vessels.
