Hays Recruitment is partnering with an established financial services organization to appoint a strategic Head of Trade Risk. This senior leadership role is responsible for the governance and oversight of market risk exposures across a broad, multi-asset portfolio. Based in Selangor, you will lead risk strategy, drive risk-informed decision making, and elevate risk analytics to support sustainable growth.
As Head of Trade Risk, you will shape and implement a robust risk framework that covers measurement, monitoring, limit setting, and escalation. You will own real-time risk monitoring, VaR and scenario analysis, stress testing, P&L attribution, and risk reporting to executive leadership and risk committees. Your partnership with Front Office, Treasury, Finance, Compliance, and IT will be essential to harmonize risk appetite with business strategy while ensuring regulatory compliance and governance standards are met.
Key responsibilities include designing risk policies and governance structures, ensuring data quality for risk dashboards, and leading a high-performing team of risk professionals. You will communicate complex risk concepts to non-technical audiences and influence strategic decisions at the board and senior management level. Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the global market risk strategy for a multi-asset portfolio (FX, rates, commodities, equities, credit).
- Oversee daily market risk monitoring, VaR, scenario analysis, stress testing, P&L attribution, and risk limit enforcement.
- Establish and govern risk policies, procedures, and escalation protocols; ensure timely risk reporting to executive leadership and risk committees.
- Collaborate with Front Office, Treasury, Finance, Compliance, and Technology to align risk appetite with business strategy and improve risk data quality.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices; maintain robust governance and internal controls.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing risk team; drive talent development and knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Drive data-driven decision making by developing advanced risk analytics, dashboards, and automated reporting tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; MBA or MSc preferred.
- 10+ years of market risk management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep expertise in risk measurement (VaR, expected shortfall), stress testing, liquidity risk, P&L attribution, and derivatives.
- Strong knowledge of multi-asset portfolios and front-to-back risk processes; ability to challenge assumptions with data.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and reporting requirements; ability to interact with regulators and audit teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; proven ability to influence senior leaders and board members.
- Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, PRM are preferred.
