As a Machinist, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of various machine tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders. You will work closely with our engineering and production teams to troubleshoot mechanical issues, fabricate replacement parts, and perform preventive maintenance. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinding equipment to produce precision parts.
- Inspect and repair mechanical components of sugar processing machinery, including pumps, conveyors, and gearboxes.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on all shop equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining specifications.
- Fabricate replacement parts using welding, cutting, and metalworking techniques as needed.
- Collaborate with maintenance supervisors to diagnose and resolve recurring mechanical issues.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Document all repairs, inspections, and part inventories accurately in maintenance logs.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience as a machinist in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in operating lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance scheduling and spare parts management.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
- Good physical condition and ability to lift up to 50 pounds; comfortable working in a hot, dusty environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining is a plus.
