We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Trainee Mechanic to join our team in Sandakan, Sabah. Responsibilities
- Assist senior mechanics in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and dump trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication under supervision.
- Learn to use diagnostic tools and interpret technical manuals to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
- Dismantle and reassemble engine components, hydraulic systems, and drivetrains for repair or overhaul.
- Maintain a clean and organized workshop, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and accounted for.
- Adhere strictly to workplace safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Document work completed, parts used, and time spent accurately in the service management system.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and skill development programs to enhance technical knowledge.
Qualifications
- SPM / Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or equivalent; a certificate in mechanical engineering or automotive technology is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools; previous experience in a workshop or garage is a plus.
- Willingness to learn and work under the guidance of experienced technicians.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy components, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Possess a valid driving license (preferably Class D) – own transport to work is required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Must be a Malaysian citizen or permanent resident residing in or willing to relocate to Sandakan, Sabah.
