As a Graduate Research Assistant, you will work at the intersection of laboratory research and field application. You will be responsible for managing complex nursery trials, meticulously measuring plant physiological and genetic traits, and translating data into actionable insights for our plant breeding programs. Responsibilities
- Lead and execute pre-breeding research projects to support long-term crop improvement goals.
- Design, manage, and monitor nursery trials to ensure high-quality data collection.
- Perform precise measurement and analysis of plant morphological and physiological traits.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with plant breeders, tissue culturists, and agronomists to refine research methodologies.
- Maintain detailed laboratory and field records in accordance with institutional research protocols.
- Analyze experimental data using statistical software to identify key trends and correlations.
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Plant Science, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in plant research, preferably involving field trials or tissue culture.
- Strong understanding of plant genetics, physiology, and modern breeding techniques.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis tools (e.g., R, SAS, or SPSS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently in both laboratory and outdoor field settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and/or Bahasa Malaysia.
