The Opportunity

As a Chemist, you will be the guardian of our product integrity. Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine and non-routine chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cooking oils to ensure adherence to quality specifications.
  • Monitor and optimize refining, bleaching, and deodorization processes through precise laboratory testing and data interpretation.
  • Manage laboratory equipment, chemicals, and supplies, ensuring calibration, maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures in compliance with HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001, and other relevant food safety standards.
  • Investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and maintain accurate records of all quality control data.
  • Collaborate with the production and R&D teams on product development and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper waste disposal and safety practices within the laboratory environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of relevant working experience in a quality control laboratory, preferably in the edible oils, oleochemical, or food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in wet chemistry and instrumental analysis (e.g., GC, HPLC, AAS, FTIR).
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001, and HALAL certification requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (both written and spoken).
