Responsibilities
- Assist senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of menu items according to standardized recipes.
- Ensure all ingredients are properly washed, chopped, measured, and stored following food safety guidelines.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, utensils, and equipment throughout the shift.
- Support the receiving and storage of deliveries, performing basic stock rotation and inventory checks.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations (HACCP) to guarantee a safe kitchen environment.
- Help with plating and garnishing dishes to meet presentation standards before service.
- Participate in kitchen briefings and training sessions to improve culinary techniques and product knowledge.
- Adapt quickly to changing demands during peak service periods while maintaining quality and speed.
Qualifications
- Minimum SPM or equivalent; culinary certificate or diploma is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a positive attitude.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights (up to 15kg).
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and respond to feedback constructively.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Valid food handler’s certificate or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
