Job Description

Vertiv is seeking a proactive Electrical Design Engineer II to join our engineering team in Senai, Johor. This role focuses on designing and developing Electrical systems for Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs), delivering reliable, manufacturable, and cost-efficient solutions for critical data centers and industrial cooling applications.

You will collaborate across disciplines to translate customer needs into robust electrical architectures, including schematics, wiring diagrams, component specifications, and detailed BOMs. The role emphasizes design for manufacturability, testability, and serviceability, with hands-on involvement in prototyping, verification, and field support.

As part of the CDU program, you will drive improvements in performance, safety, and energy efficiency while ensuring compliance with applicable electrical standards. You will participate in design reviews, DFx activities, and supplier interactions to optimize cost and lead times. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems for CDU cooling distribution units, including power distribution, control circuitry, sensors, interlocks, and protection schemes.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCBs or integrated electrical layouts, and detailed component specifications.
  • Generate and manage BOMs, perform component selection, supplier interface, and cost optimization.
  • Perform design verification through simulations, prototyping, testing, and validation against requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, EMC, and global standards (IEC, UL/CE) and contribute to DFx activities.
  • Prepare robust technical documentation, provide field support, and participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of electrical design experience in electro-mechanical systems or HVAC components.
  • Proficiency with electrical CAD tools (eg, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical).
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, EMI/EMC, safety standards and compliance (IEC, UL, CE).
  • Experience with PLCs, sensors, actuators, control systems, and wiring standards.
  • Experience with DFx, DFM, design verification, and test methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
