Are you a seasoned professional in mechanical and electrical engineering seeking a challenging leadership role? ingenium Advance Sdn Bhd is seeking a dedicated Mechanical & Electrical Resident Engineer / Inspector Of Work (IOW) to join our dynamic team in Johor Bahru, Johor.
In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary technical overseer for mechanical and electrical installations across our construction and infrastructure projects. Your expertise will ensure that all M&E systems are designed, installed, and commissioned in strict accordance with project specifications, Malaysian standards, and regulatory requirements.
You will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellence in every aspect of mechanical and electrical engineering, from initial design reviews through final handover. Responsibilities
- Oversee and inspect all mechanical and electrical installation works on-site to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and Malaysian standards (MS standards)
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor workmanship quality, safety compliance, and progress against project schedules
- Review and approve M&E shop drawings, technical submittals, and contractor requests for information (RFIs)
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution
- Prepare and submit progress reports, inspection reports, and technical recommendations to stakeholders
- Ensure all M&E systems are tested, commissioned, and handed over according to project requirements and client expectations
- Enforce strict adherence to workplace safety regulations and environmental guidelines on all M&E activities
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site personnel as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized university
- Professional engineer (PE) registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is highly advantageous
- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in M&E construction, supervision, or project management roles
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian building codes, MS standards, IEE regulations, and relevant authorities' requirements
- Proven experience in overseeing M&E installations for commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills in English; proficiency in Malay is an advantage
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
