We are seeking a detailâoriented Electrical Design & Estimation Engineer to join our Marine Offshore team in Petaling, Selangor. In this role you will translate customer requirements into accurate technical designs, perform cost estimations, source suitable products and deliver expert support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Your dayâtoâday activities will include preparing detailed electrical schematics and layout drawings, generating bills of materials (BOM), evaluating supplier quotations, and ensuring all designs comply with relevant marine standards and local regulations. You will work closely with project managers, procurement specialists and field engineers to optimise costs, improve delivery timelines and guarantee product reliability. Responsibilities
- Develop accurate electrical designs, schematics, and layout drawings for marine offshore projects using industryâstandard CAD tools.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bill of materials (BOM), and material takeâoffs to support budgeting and procurement activities.
- Source and evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely delivery of electrical components.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams, resolving queries related to design, functionality, and compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers, crossâfunctional engineers, and field technicians to optimise design solutions and project schedules.
- Ensure all designs adhere to relevant marine standards, local regulations, and Johnson Controls quality policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience (2â5 years) in electrical design and estimation, preferably within marine or offshore environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other electrical CAD software; experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Solid understanding of marine electrical standards (e.g., IEC, ABS, DNV) and local electrical codes.
- Strong analytical, problemâsolving, and organisational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
