Job Description

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will manage site investigations, review geotechnical design data, coordinate with consultants, supervise junior staff, and support our civil infrastructure programs. In this role you will be part of a dynamic geotechnical team responsible for delivering safe, sustainable solutions for complex projects such as tunnels, highways, and water infrastructure. You will interface with design teams to ensure geotechnical risk is properly managed and communicated to stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical site investigations for civil infrastructure projects in Penang, including drilling programs, sampling, and field testing.
  • Review and interpret geotechnical data to inform foundation design, earthworks, slope stability, and ground improvement recommendations.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure technical compliance, quality control, and on-time project delivery.
  • Supervise junior engineers and field technicians; provide coaching and ensure adherence to safety and QA/QC standards.
  • Prepare technical reports, interpretation memos, and design recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Monitor field performance, manage risk assessments, and support project schedules and cost control.
  • Oversee soil and rock testing programs, ensure data quality, and liaise with testing laboratories.
  • Provide on-site technical support during construction and assist in resolving geotechnical issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred); recognized equivalent in Malaysia.
  • 3+ years of geotechnical engineering experience in site investigations, soil testing, foundation design, and earthworks.
  • Professional Engineer (Malaysia) or eligible for registration; strong professional credentials preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, geotechnical instrumentation, and earth reinforcement techniques.
  • Experience with geotechnical software (GeoStudio, PLAXIS, WALLAP, RS3) and CAD tools; proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills; able to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong safety mindset and ability to work in dynamic field environments; willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Fluent in English; Bahasa Malaysia helpful for collaboration with local teams.
