Are you an experienced Facilities Engineer with a passion for critical infrastructure and fire safety? Singapore Telecommunications is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Data Centre operations team in Tuas. In this pivotal role, you will be the backbone of our site's operational integrity, ensuring that our mission-critical facilities function at peak performance while maintaining the highest standards of fire safety and compliance.
You will oversee technical facility maintenance, manage specialized fire protection systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure zero-downtime operations. This role is ideal for a proactive engineer who understands the unique demands of a Data Centre environment and possesses the technical expertise to mitigate risks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily maintenance and operations of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems within the Data Centre.
- Serve as the designated Fire Safety Manager, ensuring full compliance with SCDF regulations and local fire safety codes.
- Conduct regular fire safety inspections, drills, and audits to identify and rectify potential hazards.
- Manage external vendors and contractors for facility upgrades and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Monitor site Building Management Systems (BMS) to optimize energy efficiency and thermal performance.
- Respond promptly to facility emergencies, providing technical troubleshooting and incident reporting.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all facility equipment, maintenance records, and safety certifications.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Must possess a valid Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certification recognized by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
- At least 3-5 years of experience in Data Centre or mission-critical facility management.
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, UPS, standby generators, and fire suppression systems (e.g., FM200, Novec).
- Proficiency in reading technical blueprints and facility schematics.
- Excellent analytical skills with a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk management.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders, authorities, and on-site staff.
