We are seeking a highly skilled Fixture Design Engineer to join our expanding team in Batu Kawan, Penang. In this role, you will be the bridge between conceptual design and shop-floor reality, developing robust machining and secondary process fixtures that guarantee repeatability, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

As a key member of our engineering department, you will utilize your expertise in CAD software to create advanced workholding solutions for complex components. You will work closely with production, quality assurance, and toolroom teams to optimize cycle times and eliminate production bottlenecks. Responsibilities

  • Design and detail custom machining fixtures, jigs, and workholding devices for CNC milling, turning, and secondary processes.
  • Perform structural and kinematic analysis to ensure fixtures meet precision requirements and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve manufacturing constraints through innovative fixture concepts.
  • Generate comprehensive 2D manufacturing drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions.
  • Conduct design reviews to evaluate manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and ergonomic safety.
  • Provide technical support to the toolroom during fixture assembly and trial phases.
  • Maintain and update existing fixture designs to improve performance or accommodate engineering change orders (ECO).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fixture design, tool design, or jig design within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or Autodesk Inventor).
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and mechanical drawing standards.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, material properties, and heat treatment.
  • Experience with CNC programming or shop floor machining is a significant advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
