This is a unique opportunity to build a kitchen from the ground up. You will have the creative freedom to design innovative menus that celebrate local ingredients while appealing to a global audience. We are looking for someone who combines technical excellence with a modern approach to cafe dining and a strong focus on team leadership and operational efficiency.
As part of our pre-opening team, you will play a critical role in establishing our kitchen operations, sourcing premium suppliers, and fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, and consistency. Join us in creating Ubud's next favorite dining destination.
Responsibilities
- Lead the pre-opening phase of the kitchen, including kitchen layout optimization and equipment selection.
- Design, develop, and execute a creative and commercially viable cafe menu featuring breakfast, brunch, and lunch options.
- Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing kitchen team, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
- Oversee all food preparation and ensure the highest standards of taste, quality, and plating presentation.
- Manage food costs, inventory levels, and supplier relationships to maintain target margins.
- Implement and maintain strict hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards (HACCP) throughout the kitchen.
- Collaborate with the management team on marketing initiatives, seasonal specials, and event catering.
- Standardize recipes and production processes to ensure consistency across all shifts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef (minimum 3-5 years) in a reputable cafe or boutique restaurant.
- Prior experience with new restaurant openings or pre-opening phases is highly preferred.
- Strong expertise in contemporary cafe cuisine with a focus on fresh, healthy, and locally sourced ingredients.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and mentor a diverse team.
- Proficiency in food costing, waste management, and kitchen administration.
- Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in Indonesian is a significant advantage.
- Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
