Ltd. is seeking a visionary Head of Department (HOD) for a leading Special Education (SPED) school in the Central Region of Singapore. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of dedicated educators and therapists to implement inclusive and effective pedagogical strategies, ensuring every student reaches their full potential.
As the Head of Department, you will bridge the gap between curriculum design and classroom delivery, fostering a supportive environment that prioritizes student well-being and developmental milestones. You will be instrumental in mentoring staff, collaborating with stakeholders, and upholding the highest standards of special education excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional leadership to develop and execute high-impact SPED curricula tailored to diverse learning needs.
- Mentor, supervise, and evaluate teaching staff to ensure professional growth and adherence to pedagogical best practices.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including therapists and social workers, to develop comprehensive Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Oversee departmental budgets, resource allocation, and facility management to ensure optimal learning conditions.
- Drive school-wide initiatives and workshops to foster an inclusive and innovative school culture.
- Maintain strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and external agencies to support student development.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education (MOE) and SPED sector regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in the education sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of SPED teaching methodologies, curriculum design, and assessment frameworks.
- Proven track record in managing and mentoring teaching teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across various stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a deep commitment to advocating for students with special needs.
- Recognized teaching certification in Singapore is required for this position.
