Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality music lessons aligned with the school's curriculum and international standards.
- Teach a range of musical instruments, vocal techniques, and music theory to students from diverse backgrounds.
- Organize and direct school choirs, bands, orchestras, and other musical ensembles for performances and competitions.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and reports to students and parents.
- Develop and maintain a dynamic music programme that includes extracurricular activities, concerts, and cultural events.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music across the wider curriculum, supporting school-wide productions and assemblies.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity and respect.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school community events as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent international teaching certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching music in a primary or secondary school setting (international school experience is an advantage).
- Proficiency in playing at least two musical instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, violin, or percussion) and strong vocal skills.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills in English; additional language (e.g., Malay, Mandarin) is a plus.
- Knowledge of current music education pedagogies, including Kodály, Orff, or Suzuki methods.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities, fostering a positive learning culture.
- Demonstrated experience leading ensembles, concerts, or musical productions.
