About the Role
Mehow Medical (M) Sdn Bhd, a premier global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for medical devices, is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Injection Molding Technician to join our rapidly growing manufacturing hub in Simpang Ampat, Penang. As an Injection Molding Technician, you will be a key player in our production operations, ensuring the seamless manufacturing of high-precision plastic components that are integral to life-saving and life-enhancing medical devices. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the molding process, from setup and validation to troubleshooting and optimization, ensuring peak efficiency and uncompromised quality.
What You Will Do
In this role, you will take ownership of the injection molding process. Your daily responsibilities will involve performing mold changes, meticulously setting machine parameters, and conducting rigorous in-process quality checks. You will use your strong technical acumen to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process issues quickly to minimize downtimes and maintain production targets. Furthermore, you will actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with engineering and quality teams to refine processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Responsibilities
- Perform mold setup, startup, and shutdown procedures following strict SOPs.
- Monitor and adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, injection speed) to achieve optimal cycle times and part quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process, machine, and mold-related issues to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, vision systems).
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintain accurate production logs, process sheets, and quality documentation.
- Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams on process improvement projects and new mold trials.
- Ensure strict compliance with 5S, safety regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Plastics Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical field.
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience in injection molding operations.
- Strong working knowledge of plastic materials (ABS, PC, PP, Nylon, etc.) and their processing characteristics.
- Experience with Engel, Arburg, or Husky injection molding machines is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, or medical device manufacturing standards is a strong advantage.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts and overtime as required to support manufacturing operations.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
