Job Description

Are you passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence and healthcare innovation? The Diagnostics Development (DxD) Hub at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a motivated Junior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) solutions that bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical application.

In this role, you will work alongside multi-disciplinary teams of data scientists, clinicians, and regulatory experts to design, integrate, and validate complex software systems. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring our medical device software meets high-performance standards, scalability requirements, and strict regulatory compliance. If you are a problem-solver looking to make a tangible impact on the future of healthcare technology in Singapore, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and document software architectures for medical device applications.
  • Support the integration of AI models and machine learning pipelines into regulated software environments.
  • Assist in the execution of system testing, validation, and verification (V&V) protocols to ensure product safety and efficacy.
  • Manage system configuration and documentation in compliance with ISO 13485 and IEC 62304 standards.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot software system performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing technical improvements.
  • Coordinate with data engineers to ensure robust data ingestion and processing workflows for medical imaging and diagnostics.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation to support regulatory submissions and quality assurance audits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and systems integration principles.
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations (e.g., HSA, FDA, ISO 13485) is a strong advantage.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java for system development.
  • Experience or academic exposure to AI/ML deployment frameworks and cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholder requirements.
  • Detail-oriented approach to documentation and rigorous adherence to engineering best practices.
