MINDS (Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore) is currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Officer (LSO) to join our vibrant team at Towner Gardens School. This is a 1-year contract opportunity for an individual committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
As an LSO, you will play a pivotal role in the classroom, working closely with Teachers to implement individualized education plans and facilitate engaging school programs. You will provide essential assistance in classroom management, student supervision, and the delivery of curriculum-based activities. Responsibilities
- Assist Lead Teachers in the planning and execution of daily lesson plans and classroom activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students to ensure they meet their learning and developmental goals.
- Support classroom management initiatives to maintain a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of teaching aids, educational resources, and learning materials.
- Provide physical and emotional support to students during transition times, excursions, and school events.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the teaching team to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and social workers, to support holistic student development.
Qualifications
- Minimum GCE 'O' Level or equivalent; qualifications in Special Education or Early Childhood are highly advantageous.
- Prior experience working with children or individuals with special needs is strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient disposition when handling challenging behavioral situations.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary school environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to the specific pedagogical requirements of MINDS schools.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and classroom administrative tasks.
