Job Description
The National University of Singapore (NUS) seeks a dynamic Legal Technology and Operations Manager / Assistant Manager to lead the integration of technology within its legal functions and streamline operational workflows. This role sits at the intersection of law, technology, and management, offering a unique opportunity to shape how legal services are delivered across one of Asiaâs leading educational institutions.
Reporting to the Head of Legal Affairs, you will collaborate with lawyers, compliance officers, IT teams, and senior stakeholders to identify pain points, design technologyâenabled solutions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You will oversee the selection, implementation, and adoption of legal tech platforms such as contract lifecycle management, eâdiscovery, matter management, and knowledge management systems, ensuring they align with NUSâs strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Beyond technology deployment, you will optimize legal operations by refining processes, establishing performance metrics, managing budgets, and fostering a culture of innovation and dataâdriven decisionâmaking. Responsibilities
- Assess current legal workflows and identify opportunities for technologyâdriven improvement.
- Lead the endâtoâend lifecycle of legal technology projects, from vendor evaluation to implementation and user training.
- Manage contract lifecycle management, matter management, and eâdiscovery tools, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Develop and standardize operating procedures, service level agreements, and compliance controls for the legal function.
- Monitor key performance indicators, prepare regular reports, and advise senior leadership on operational effectiveness.
- Coordinate with IT, procurement, and finance teams to manage budgets, licenses, and vendor relationships.
- Stay abreast of emerging legal tech trends and recommend innovative solutions to enhance NUSâs legal capabilities.
- Provide training and support to legal staff, promoting adoption and maximizing ROI of technology investments.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Law, Business, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CIPP, PMP, ITIL) is a plus.
- Minimum 3â5 years of experience in legal operations, legal technology, or law firm/corporate legal department management.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing legal tech solutions such as CLM, eâbilling, or matter management systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex legal requirements into functional specifications.
- Excellent project management abilities, including experience with Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing senior leaders and crossâfunctional teams.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., PDPA, GDPR) and information security best practices.
- Ability to work independently in a university setting while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
