Job Description

Are you an experienced semiconductor professional looking to drive excellence in cutting-edge research and development? The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a visionary Manager or Senior Manager for Process and Quality Control to join our Institute of Microelectronics (IME). In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of semiconductor innovation, ensuring that our fabrication processes meet the highest global standards for yield, reliability, and performance.

You will lead a team of high-performing engineers and work cross-functionally to implement robust quality management systems. This role is ideal for a leader who excels in troubleshooting complex process bottlenecks, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of precision and quality excellence within a high-stakes R&D environment. If you are passionate about advancing microelectronics technology in Singapore and have the technical rigor to push the boundaries of fabrication, we invite you to lead our quality operations into the next era of growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee end-to-end process and quality control operations within the fab environment to ensure optimal yield.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous Quality Management Systems (QMS) compliant with international semiconductor industry standards.
  • Drive systematic root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for process excursions and quality deviations.
  • Collaborate with process engineering and integration teams to refine fabrication flows and enhance manufacturing consistency.
  • Mentor and develop a team of technical staff, fostering a high-performance culture focused on operational excellence.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fab throughput, scrap rates, and quality compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects to optimize costs and minimize downtime in advanced semiconductor fabrication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a semiconductor fab environment, specifically in process engineering or quality assurance.
  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (e.g., Lithography, Etch, Deposition, CMP).
  • Strong proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) tools, FMEA, and DOE (Design of Experiments).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams and cross-departmental stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to operational hurdles.
  • Relevant certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt or ISO 9001/IATF 16949 auditor training are highly advantageous.
