Your Role & Impact:

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be at the heart of our milling operations. Your primary mission is to ensure maximum plant uptime and reliability. This involves hands-on work with heavy machinery, boilers, presses, digesters, conveyors, and pumping systems. You will be expected to diagnose complex mechanical issues, execute precise repairs using welding and machining tools, and perform installations of new equipment. Maintaining meticulous records and championing a strong safety culture are core parts of this position. You will work closely with the operations team to optimize workflow and address technical challenges promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and schedule repairs for all mechanical equipment within the palm oil mill, including boilers, presses, digesters, and conveyors.
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical malfunctions to minimize plant downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Execute installation, alignment, and commissioning of new machinery and plant upgrades in accordance with engineering specifications.
  • Carry out welding, cutting, and metal fabrication tasks for structural repairs and custom part manufacturing.
  • Read and accurately interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to guide repair procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and equipment history.
  • Enforce strict safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure a safe working environment. Liaise with DOSH / JKKP as required.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and operations teams to improve plant reliability and suggest process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Possess at least a Certificate / SKM Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience as a Fitter, preferably within a palm oil mill or heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in welding (Arc, Gas, and basic MIG/TIG) and mechanical fitting techniques.
  • Sound knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, bearings, gears, and power transmission components.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt to dynamic operational demands.
  • Physically fit and prepared for work in a hot, humid, and outdoor industrial setting.
  • Possess a valid driving license (D & GDL is an added advantage). Forklift/crane operation certifications are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong focus on safety and teamwork.
