Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our dynamic operations team at Ideals Recruitment's client site in the West Region of Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to support production goals, uphold safety standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, compressors, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical faults, and execute timely repairs to minimise production interruptions.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment according to technical specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify wear, misalignment, or potential failures, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and equipment history.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Ensure all work complies with workplace safety and environmental regulations, and use personal protective equipment as required.
- Support shift handovers and provide training to junior technicians when needed.
Qualifications
- NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a mechanical technician in a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including bearings, gears, belts, seals, and lubrication.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with preventive maintenance software or computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of electrical and control systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
- Good communication skills and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
