Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Process Development Automation Engineer specializing in Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) to join our dynamic engineering team in Perai, Penang. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving the continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes through advanced automation and machine vision technology.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing AOI systems to ensure the highest standards of production quality and throughput. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and R&D, to troubleshoot complex technical issues, implement innovative automation solutions, and lead new process development projects from concept to mass production. Responsibilities
- Design, program, and calibrate AOI systems to meet strict production quality and output targets.
- Develop and optimize inspection algorithms to enhance detection accuracy and reduce false call rates.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate AOI automation into existing production lines.
- Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Conduct comprehensive technical training for production staff on AOI operations and basic troubleshooting.
- Monitor and analyze real-time process data to identify bottlenecks and efficiency improvement opportunities.
- Maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, test reports, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in AOI system development and process automation.
- Proficiency in image processing software, vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, or similar), and programming (C++, Python, or C#).
- Strong understanding of surface mount technology (SMT) and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware and software integration issues in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural, cross-functional team.
