The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer (MEMS Module Engineer) to join our prestigious Institute of Microelectronics (IME) in Singapore. In this role, you will be at the forefront of deep-tech innovation, contributing to the development and fabrication of next-generation MEMS devices that power everything from consumer electronics to advanced industrial sensors.
As part of our collaborative and diverse research team, you will engage in the entire lifecycle of MEMS device fabrication, from process integration and optimization to experimental validation. You will work within state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities, collaborating with world-class scientists and industry partners to translate complex research concepts into functional, scalable MEMS architectures. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize MEMS fabrication processes to meet performance specifications.
- Conduct lithography, etching, and deposition process development for novel sensor architectures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot fabrication issues and improve wafer-level yield.
- Execute rigorous data analysis and documentation to validate process parameters and device performance.
- Maintain and operate sophisticated cleanroom equipment in accordance with strict safety protocols.
- Drive the integration of new materials and MEMS modules into existing manufacturing platforms.
- Support internal R&D projects and external industry collaborations to deliver high-impact engineering solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience in cleanroom environments and MEMS fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and thin-film deposition/etching technologies.
- Proficiency in design of experiments (DOE) and statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems independently and within a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical findings clearly.
- Prior experience with CAD tools for MEMS layout design is a distinct advantage.
