Job Description

Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of physics and engineering? The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is looking for a highly motivated Research Engineer to join the Quantum Innovations Centre (Q.InC). In this role, you will be at the forefront of nanoelectronics and quantum sensing, working within a world-class research ecosystem equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

As a Research Engineer, you will contribute to the design, fabrication, and characterization of advanced quantum devices. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of scientists to translate theoretical breakthroughs into practical quantum electronic applications. If you thrive in a collaborative, high-tech environment and are eager to drive the future of quantum technology, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Design and model quantum electronic devices using industry-standard simulation software.
  • Execute cleanroom fabrication processes including lithography, thin-film deposition, and etching for nanoelectronic structures.
  • Perform high-precision characterization of quantum devices under cryogenic and room-temperature conditions.
  • Analyze experimental data to refine device performance and validate theoretical quantum models.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum components into experimental sensing platforms.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot high-end laboratory instrumentation and vacuum systems.
  • Document research findings and contribute to technical reports and peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Proven hands-on experience in nanofabrication and cleanroom environments.
  • Solid understanding of quantum mechanics, semiconductor physics, and electronic device theory.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++.
  • Experience with cryogenic measurement setups (e.g., dilution refrigerators) is highly desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex experimental tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical data to diverse audiences.
