Job Description
Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of physics and engineering? The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join the Quantum Innovation Centre (Q.InC). In this role, you will be at the forefront of developing novel quantum devices and next-generation electronics that define the future of quantum information science.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will bridge the gap between theoretical quantum research and practical device fabrication. You will work in world-class cleanroom facilities, utilizing advanced nanofabrication techniques to create, characterize, and optimize quantum-grade devices. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects that aim to solve some of the most complex challenges in quantum technology today.
We are looking for a dedicated researcher who thrives in an analytical environment and is eager to collaborate with leading scientists and engineers. If you are driven by innovation and have a strong foundation in semiconductor physics or quantum electronics, we invite you to apply.
Responsibilities
- Design and fabricate high-performance quantum devices using state-of-the-art nanofabrication processes.
- Conduct rigorous experimental characterization of electronic and quantum transport properties at cryogenic temperatures.
- Develop and implement novel processes for micro/nanoscale device fabrication, including lithography and etching.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quantum devices with readout and control electronics.
- Analyze complex datasets to optimize device performance and drive iterative design improvements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot sophisticated laboratory equipment and characterization systems.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, research papers, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Proven hands-on experience in cleanroom environments and nanofabrication (E-beam lithography, thin-film deposition, etching).
- In-depth understanding of quantum mechanics, semiconductor physics, and solid-state electronics.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB for instrument control and data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high degree of analytical rigor.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting research findings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team in a fast-paced environment.
