Job Description

Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is consistently ranked among the world’s top universities. The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to join our cutting-edge nanophotonics research team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects at the intersection of light-matter interaction, nano-fabrication, and advanced optical systems.

As a Research Fellow, you will work in an intellectually stimulating environment with world-class facilities. You will be responsible for driving independent research, collaborating with international partners, and contributing to the development of novel nanophotonic devices that push the boundaries of current technology. This role is ideal for a dedicated researcher looking to establish themselves at a premier global research institution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute research projects focusing on design, simulation, and experimental characterization of nanophotonic components.
  • Develop innovative nanofabrication techniques using advanced cleanroom facilities.
  • Analyze complex data sets and interpret results to advance current research objectives.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, research publications, and conference presentations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across EEE and other departments within the university.
  • Mentor and guide postgraduate students in experimental and theoretical methodologies.
  • Assist in the preparation of research grant applications and project proposals.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
  • Proven track record of research in nanophotonics, plasmonics, or meta-materials.
  • Proficiency in simulation software such as COMSOL Multiphysics, Lumerical, or FDTD Solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cleanroom processes (e.g., E-beam lithography, reactive ion etching, deposition).
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English for academic communication.
  • Strong publication history in peer-reviewed Q1 international journals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance research team.
