Job Description

Are you ready to shape the future of quantum computing? The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist I to join our elite team within the National Quantum-Safe Network and Quantum Foundry (NQFF). In this role, you will be at the forefront of experimental physics, focusing on the design, fabrication, and characterization of cutting-edge superconducting qubit devices.

As part of our quantum research group, you will leverage state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities and cryogenic measurement systems to push the boundaries of quantum coherence and device performance. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to Singapore’s national quantum roadmap, working alongside world-class researchers to solve complex engineering challenges in a collaborative, high-impact environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and simulate superconducting quantum circuits using electromagnetic simulation software.
  • Execute micro- and nanofabrication processes in cleanroom environments to produce high-performance quantum devices.
  • Operate and maintain dilution refrigerators for low-temperature superconducting qubit characterization.
  • Develop automated measurement protocols and data analysis pipelines for device evaluation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize qubit coherence times and gate fidelities.
  • Document research findings and contribute to high-impact technical reports and scientific publications.
  • Mentor junior researchers and provide technical guidance on experimental best practices.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of research in superconducting qubits or cryogenic experimental physics.
  • Proficiency in nanofabrication techniques such as electron-beam lithography (EBL) and thin-film deposition.
  • Experience with cryogenic measurement systems (e.g., BlueFors or Oxford Instruments dilution refrigerators).
  • Strong proficiency in programming for data acquisition and analysis (Python, MATLAB, or C++).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in an academic or industrial R&D setting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, collaborative team environment.
