Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimize SMT assembly processes to achieve world-class production yields and throughput.
- Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives to ensure new product designs are optimized for mass production.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for process-related defects and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate and qualify new materials, equipment, and automated assembly technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, and Operations, to drive continuous improvement projects.
- Define and maintain engineering documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
- Mentor junior engineering staff and provide technical guidance on complex SMT troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in SMT processes, preferably in a high-volume consumer electronics or medical device environment.
- Strong proficiency in SMT line setup, profile optimization (reflow/wave soldering), and screen printing technology.
- Deep understanding of SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience with CAD software and manufacturing execution systems (MES).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills in English and Malay; ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
