Responsibilities
- Lead and execute carbohydrate synthesis projects from concept to pilot scale, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Optimize synthetic routes and reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineers and product managers, to translate scientific findings into commercial products.
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and safety protocols within the laboratory environment.
- Analyze experimental data using advanced instrumentation and prepare detailed technical reports, patents, and presentations.
- Train and mentor junior scientists and research staff to foster a culture of scientific excellence.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on organic or carbohydrate synthesis.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D, specifically in carbohydrate chemistry or organic synthesis within the chemical/pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong background in organic reaction mechanisms and analytical techniques such as HPLC, NMR, and MS.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, industrial setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Willingness to work on-site at Jurong Island and travel for regional projects if required.
