Job Description
Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of healthcare through artificial intelligence? The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a visionary Senior Scientist to join the Bioinformatics Institute (BII). In this critical role, you will spearhead research initiatives focused on precision medicine, predictive disease modeling, and the integration of multi-omics data to drive tangible clinical improvements.
As a Senior Scientist, you will operate at the intersection of machine learning, biomedical research, and health technology. You will lead cross-functional projects, collaborate with world-class clinical partners, and translate complex datasets into actionable insights that impact patient care. This is an exceptional opportunity for a researcher looking to leverage AI to solve some of the most pressing health challenges in the digital age.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of innovative AI and machine learning architectures tailored for clinical healthcare datasets.
- Drive research initiatives focused on precision medicine, including genomic analysis and digital twin modeling for disease prevention.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including biologists, clinicians, and data engineers, to bridge the gap between bench research and bedside application.
- Mentor junior research staff and foster a culture of technical excellence and collaborative innovation.
- Publish high-impact research findings in leading AI and medical informatics journals and present at international conferences.
- Secure grant funding and explore opportunities for commercial translation or strategic industry partnerships.
- Provide technical oversight on data governance, model validation, and ethical AI implementation in sensitive health contexts.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral research experience in AI/ML applications within a biomedical or healthcare setting.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, with expertise in frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
- Proven track record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Deep understanding of medical informatics, electronic health records (EHR), or high-throughput omics data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in managing research projects and leading multi-disciplinary teams is highly desirable.
