AMD is a leading global semiconductor company pushing the boundaries of high-performance computing. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Systems Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Penang Island, Penang, Malaysia.
In this pivotal role, you will serve as the Server Lead System Engineer, acting as the primary technical lead responsible for driving program execution and spearheading key Post-Si engineering initiatives. You will be at the forefront of bringing AMD's next-generation server platforms to market, ensuring they deliver industry-leading performance, power, and reliability. You will work closely with some of the brightest minds in the industry to validate and debug complex SoCs based on AMD's revolutionary Zen architecture.
Key aspects of this role include:
- Providing technical direction for system-level validation strategy, including comprehensive test plan definition and rigorous execution.
- Leading complex debug and root-causing activities for system-level issues that span hardware, firmware, and software domains.
- Driving continuous improvement in validation methodologies, tools, and automation frameworks to enhance efficiency and coverage.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in architecture, design, verification, BIOS, and platform engineering across multiple global sites including the US and China.
- Mentoring and guiding junior systems engineers to foster a high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation and quality.
As a technical leader, you will also be responsible for representing the systems engineering team in technical reviews and customer engagements, translating system-level requirements into actionable validation plans. Your deep understanding of server architectures, memory subsystems, and high-speed interconnects will be critical in identifying and resolving subtle design issues early in the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution of Post-Silicon (Post-Si) engineering initiatives for AMD's server platforms.
- Drive program execution, managing schedules, milestones, and cross-functional dependencies to ensure successful product launches.
- Define system-level validation strategies, test plans, and debug methodologies for complex SoC designs.
- Collaborate with Design, Verification, Firmware, and Platform teams to resolve challenging hardware and software issues.
- Architect and implement system-level test benches and automation frameworks to improve validation efficiency.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Interface with customers and partners to address technical challenges and ensure seamless platform integration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in systems design, validation, or post-silicon engineering within the semiconductor industry.
- Deep understanding of x86 architecture, server memory hierarchy (DDR4/DDR5), and high-speed IO interfaces (PCIe, CXL, Ethernet).
- Proven track record of technical leadership in driving complex engineering programs to successful completion.
- Strong proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers for system-level debug.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve intricate system-level issues.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively within a global, cross-functional team environment.
