Northern Solar, a leading renewable energy company in Malaysia, is seeking a talented Solar Drafter to join our engineering team in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing and detailing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including electrical circuit diagrams for power and control circuits, as well as electrical switchboard and control panel layouts. You will collaborate closely with project engineers and technicians to ensure designs meet technical standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
As a Solar Drafter, you will translate conceptual designs into precise technical drawings using industry-leading software such as AutoCAD and Revit. Your work will directly support the successful installation and commissioning of residential, commercial, and industrial solar projects across Malaysia. Responsibilities
- Design and draft detailed solar PV system layouts, including module positioning, wiring, and mounting details.
- Prepare electrical circuit diagrams for power and control circuits, ensuring compliance with local codes and standards.
- Create technical drawings for electrical switchboards and control panels, specifying components and wiring.
- Coordinate with project engineers to refine designs based on site conditions and client requirements.
- Review and revise drawings to incorporate feedback from internal teams and regulatory bodies.
- Maintain an organized library of drawings and documentation for multiple projects.
- Assist in the preparation of bill of materials (BOM) and design documentation for procurement.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to verify measurements and ensure design accuracy.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical drafting or solar PV system design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with Revit or PVSyst is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, switchboard and control panel layout.
- Familiarity with Malaysian electrical codes and solar installation standards (e.g., SEDA guidelines).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with project teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
