Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic and personal growth
- Collaborate with parents, therapists, and other professionals to develop comprehensive support strategies
- Utilize evidence-based teaching practices and stay current with research in special education
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records of educational interventions and outcomes
- Foster social and emotional development while promoting independence and self-advocacy skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education or Special Education (Master's degree preferred)
- Teaching certification in Special Education
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with students with special needs
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based teaching strategies for diverse learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, compassionate, and adaptable teaching style
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Certification in relevant special education methodologies (e.g., ABA, TEACCH) is an advantage
