Responsibilities
- Ensure the thorough cleaning and sanitization of all kitchen equipment, cooking utensils, and service ware.
- Maintain strict hygiene standards in all food preparation areas, storage rooms, and cold rooms.
- Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food and beverage supplies according to FIFO standards.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling procedures in an eco-conscious manner suitable for an island environment.
- Provide support to the culinary team with basic food preparation and plating as required.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning chemicals and supplies, reporting any shortages to the supervisor.
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulations to ensure a secure workplace.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Steward, Kitchen Helper, or similar role in a hotel, resort, or high-volume restaurant.
- Strong understanding of sanitation principles and health department regulations.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
- Physically fit with the capability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a positive 'can-do' attitude.
- Prior experience working on an island or remote resort location is a distinct advantage.
- Valid Malaysian work authorization or citizenship is required.
