Job Description
Join Plexus, a global leader in electronics manufacturing services, as a Test Engineer in our Penang facility. In this critical role, you will ensure product testability is engineered from the concept phase through productionâdriving quality, efficiency, and reliability across complex electronic assemblies. Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to develop and optimize test strategies for cutting-edge products.
You will be responsible for debugging and troubleshooting test failures, implementing functional and RF test solutions, and overseeing Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and 5DX processes. Your expertise will directly impact first-pass yield, cycle time, and customer satisfaction. If you thrive in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and have a passion for precision testing and continuous improvement, we want to hear from you.
This is a full-time, on-site role in Penang, offering the opportunity to work with world-class technology and a supportive, innovative team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement test strategies for new product introductions (NPI) to ensure design-for-testability (DFT) criteria are met.
- Perform debug and root cause analysis on functional, RF, and in-circuit test failures to improve yield and reduce downtime.
- Program and maintain Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for functional and RF testing, including fixture design and calibration.
- Oversee AOI and 5DX inspection processes, programming systems and defining acceptance criteria for solder joint and assembly quality.
- Collaborate with design engineering to review schematics and PCB layouts, providing feedback on test coverage and access points.
- Document test procedures, work instructions, and failure analysis reports to support production and quality teams.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing test data, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions.
- Train and mentor junior technicians on test methods, equipment operation, and troubleshooting techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in test engineering within a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in debug and troubleshooting of digital, analog, and RF circuits using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and multimeters.
- Strong knowledge of functional test development (LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar) and RF measurement techniques (VNA, power meter, signal generator).
- Experience with AOI (Koh Young, Omron, or Vitronics) and 5DX (X-ray inspection) systems, including programming and defect analysis.
- Familiarity with DFT principles, ICT (in-circuit test), and boundary scan (JTAG) is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a data-driven approach to root cause analysis.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
