Plexus Corp., a global leader in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Test Technician (Debug/Functional Test/AOI/AXI/RF) to join our manufacturing operations team in Penang. As a key member of our production floor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest quality standards for our complex electronic assemblies. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain production test equipment, including AOI, AXI, RF testers, and functional test fixtures, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Troubleshoot and repair defective printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) to the component level using schematic diagrams, layout files, and standard diagnostic tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum analyzer).
- Perform in-circuit and functional testing, analyzing test results to identify root causes of failures and implement effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to debug complex hardware and software issues, supporting rapid resolution to maintain production schedules.
- Monitor and interpret test yield data, driving continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., yield enhancement, cycle time reduction, test coverage optimization).
- Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and troubleshooting guides to support best practices on the test floor.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by setting up, validating, and fine-tuning test programs and fixtures prior to production ramp.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and IPC-A-610.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum 2-3 years of progressive experience as a Test Technician in an EMS, semiconductor, or high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Proven hands-on experience with Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Automated X-ray Inspection (AXI) systems (e.g., Koh Young, Omron, Dage, Keysight).
- Strong proficiency in reading electronic schematics, PCB layout drawings, and BOMs.
- Experienced with RF testing, spectrum analysis, and understanding of wireless communication protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee) is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of SMT assembly processes, functional test strategies, and in-circuit test (ICT) methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in other regional languages is an added advantage for global team collaboration.
