Responsibilities
- Oversee daily vessel operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement vessel scheduling and routing plans to maximize utilization.
- Manage chartering activities, including negotiation, contract administration, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure adherence to international maritime conventions such as MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM Code, and STCW.
- Lead and mentor a team of marine officers, crew, and shore-based staff.
- Monitor vessel performance metrics, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with port agents, terminals, customs, and classification authorities for smooth port calls.
- Prepare operational reports, budgets, and forecasts for senior management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience in shipping or marine operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record as a Vessel Operation Manager or Marine Superintendent.
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
- Strong chartering and commercial acumen, including experience with time charter and voyage charter agreements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in maritime software systems and MS Office suite.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as STCW, ISM Auditor, or equivalent are advantageous.
