Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated 3rd Engineer to join our team for a state-of-the-art pipe laying support vessel. Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all engine room machinery.
- Conduct regular watchkeeping duties, monitoring engine performance, fuel consumption, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on main engines, generators, pumps, compressors, and hydraulic systems.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW) and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate engineering logs, records, and spare parts inventory.
- Support pipe laying operations by ensuring the vessel's dynamic positioning and propulsion systems are fully operational.
- Participate in emergency drills and respond to alarms as part of the shipboard safety team.
- Supervise and train junior engine room personnel when required.
Qualifications
- Valid STCW III/1 (Engine Officer of the Watch) or equivalent certification.
- Minimum 2 years of sea service as a 3rd Engineer or equivalent on offshore or specialized vessels.
- Experience with DP (Dynamic Positioning) systems and pipe laying operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems, including diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic machinery.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Good command of English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a multicultural team environment.
- Medically fit and able to pass a seafarer medical examination.
