Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of greenhouse crop production, including planting, irrigation, fertigation, and harvesting schedules.
- Monitor plant health, diagnose pest and disease issues, and implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Develop and optimise nutrient management plans to maximise crop yield and quality.
- Conduct regular soil and tissue analysis to guide fertiliser applications and soil amendments.
- Supervise and train the farm team on best agronomic practices and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of crop performance, environmental conditions, and input usage for data-driven decision making.
- Collaborate with the management team to plan seasonal crop rotations and trial new crop varieties.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations and food safety standards.
Qualifications
- Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Crop Science, Plant Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience in agronomy, preferably in a greenhouse or protected cropping environment.
- Strong knowledge of plant physiology, soil fertility, and pest/disease identification.
- Experience with hydroponic or soilless growing systems is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in data analysis and using farm management software.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic agricultural environment.
