Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with SMBCâs global standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Establish and monitor data quality KPIs, leading remediation efforts across diverse banking systems and business units.
- Maintain and oversee end-to-end data lineage to ensure transparency and accuracy for regulatory reporting and risk management.
- Lead the Data Stewardship program, providing guidance and training to stakeholders across the organization.
- Collaborate with IT and Security teams to ensure data privacy and protection measures are integrated into the data lifecycle.
- Manage the business glossary and metadata repository to ensure consistent definitions and usage of data across the bank.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management on data-related risks and emerging trends in data management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Analytics within the Financial Services or Banking sector.
- Strong understanding of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) regulations and global standards such as BCBS 239 or PDPA.
- Proven experience in implementing enterprise-level data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, or ASG).
- Bachelorâs or Masterâs degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional projects and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex data integrity issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences.
