Eppendorf is a leading global provider of laboratory equipment and consumables, serving customers in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and life sciences industries. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Category Manager Plastics (APAC) to join our dynamic procurement team and drive strategic sourcing initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies for plastic consumables and components, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Sales to ensure optimal product quality, cost competitiveness, and supply reliability.
You will leverage your deep understanding of the plastics manufacturing landscape to identify market trends, evaluate supplier capabilities, and negotiate favorable terms with key vendors. This position requires strong business acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence decisions at all organizational levels.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies for plastic consumables and components across the APAC region
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers while maintaining relationships with existing vendor partners
- Conduct market analysis and competitive benchmarking to identify cost optimization and innovation opportunities
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service level agreements to achieve cost and quality targets
- Collaborate with R&D and Quality teams to specify technical requirements and ensure supplier compliance
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive consolidation efforts and consolidate purchasing volume across regional entities
- Represent the procurement function in cross-functional projects and product launches
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of procurement or category management experience in the plastics or manufacturing industry
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and contract negotiations
- Strong knowledge of plastic materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards
- Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in MS Excel, SAP, or similar ERP systems
- Experience working in a regional APAC role with multi-country responsibilities
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Fluent in English; additional Asian language skills are advantageous
